Yes, well done. I can't wait to beat them.

Which manufacturer's elephant did you go for?

Dear Bookbinder - that would be telling, but suffice it to say that my 18 month old grandson shows great promise!

Dear Nick - the Parthians don't fight like Celts or Barbarians or any other group you've come across - your Romans may be in for a surprise - the tactics and type of units used are very different. The Parthians never lost a major war with the Romans! The Elephant was Armorum and Aquila http://www.aandaminiatures.co.uk/categories/8 and even if I do say so myself it looks even better in real life!

Dear everyone else - thank you for the nice comments!

Thanks Bill - the Parthians will add some tactical possibilities to Ancients games. I'm going to take advantage of todays cancellation and start painting a dozen camels for the Camelphracts

Pete - they look pretty damned good to me. Just need another 50 or so horse archers Laughing

Given my experience with Parthians in 15mm, you need plenty of patience to fight with them - lots of shooting and evading with horse archers until the legions are weakened, then charge with the heavies. You also really need those infantry, particularly if there are woods or buildings where your mounted troops can't go.

Sorted the scenery out no woods no buildings not a single tree or hill allowed just a load of caltrops the whole length of the board in four rows deep.

Thanks Gary - I had been quietly working out that new tactics were needed for the parthians - along the lines you describe.

Bill - as I will be using huge amounts of cavalry I suggest you go for lots of woods, hills, buildings etc! You'll need somewhere for your Romans to hide!

Bolt shooters and caltrops will take care of your cavalry
